History of the event

Trigger Fingers started with our first event in 2019, which showcased artists from across the country to the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. 2020 was skipped because of Covid and the lockdown that followed. We then picked the show back up in 2021 with the same plans and mindset as 2019. Entering into 2022, we had plans to make the show bigger. We included vendors, a food truck and were blessed with some of the most respected graffiti and street artists in the game to come to the show. 2022 was a pivotal year for this event. In 2023, with 2022’s success, we had big expectations to follow through on. However, during this year, we did not want to include vendors, we wanted to keep it about just the artists painting on the walls. In 2023, we were able to expand and add more artists to the event with the acquisition of the walls across from the main wall. This made for a great event and really made the whole area feel like an art experience for everyone to enjoy. We were even featured this year in the Dallas Observer for the event.

Energy remained high with 2 successful events back to back years with Trigger Fingers, so we entered 2024 full steam ahead. Our plans were there, the artists were lined up, city was excited, but construction across the way at a new surf park had other plans. They put their storage containers EVERYWHERE. There is no sugarcoating here. The construction at that surf spot but a huge damper on our space, the show and the overall energy. Some of the artists were mad / didn’t paint. We weren’t able to get the same caliber of pics and videos across the entire wall and space like normal. The lack of cooperation and understanding from this construction company was just utter bull shit. With that said, we still did what we could to make the best of it and majority of the artists came through and still produced some really incredible art.

This brings us to 2025, a new era that began with a shocking change that we were not expecting. The owner of the Trigger Finger wall is Deep Ellum Storage and this guy is amazing. He has always been 110% supportive. Helped us with everything from getting the wall prepped to YouTube drone footage to contacting the media for added press coverage. The people who decided NOT to be 110% supportive are the real estate people who own the building across from the main wall and they actually control the land that leads up to the main Trigger Finger wall. Absolutely baffling. They single handedly took the show down by saying we couldn’t use the space anymore. So we are all clear, Deep Ellum Storage had nothing to do with this, they were onboard just as they always have been. Because of the people who handle the building across the way, we were not allowed to use the space. So, we had to figure something else out and have found a viable substitute.
