Hang Out

As a graffiti photographer, something I always wanted but did not expect was to get to know graffiti artists. I was cool with being an outsider and simply photographing the pieces to build my collection. But hang around long enough and continue to get more and more active, you meet people naturally. You post enough shit on Instagram and believe me, graffiti writers take notice. They want to know who you are and what you are about, but they don't always want you to know them. This life takes trust and there isn't much trust to go around. Slowly but surely, you prove you aren't here with any bad intentions and only want to document, showcase, generate exposure (in a good way for the artist) through your photography. Hang around the right people and they push you to step out of your comfort zone, get you to be a part of their world, show you what it takes. Because of photography, I now paint and paint a lot, which I believe has helped me through this experience. I have offered my time as a photographer and a friend to paint with and will always continue to do so. Meeting up has definitely taken me places never would have thought would have happened when I started all of this.
